CardioLeather Project: Smart Leather for Health, Wellbeing, and Safety Monitoring in Automotive Vehicles.
CardioLeather is an 18-months project funded by Portugal Compete 2020 research and innovation program, led by CardioID, in co-promotion with Couro Azul, CTIC, Instituto Superior Técnico, and Universidade de Aveiro. It aims to produce a conductive leather with built-in physiological signal acquisition electronics to be applied to steering wheels and other in-car surfaces, allowing non-intrusive monitoring of the occupants’ identity, health, and wellbeing.
Through advanced materials engineering technologies, acquisition electronics, signal processing and machine learning algorithms, it is intended to transform a common coating product and create new products and business models that use this new generation of leather.
The company’s activities within the scope of the project will enable CardioID to apply and exploit new and improved methods to its patented signal acquisition technology.
You can find more information on the project’s social media and very soon on the project’s website.
