SPIN-CHIP Project Kickoff

On June 2-3, in Paris, the kickoff meeting of the SPIN-CHIP project took place, bringing together 30 partners from 10 European countries to shape the future of spintronic semiconductor technologies.

Funded by the Chips Joint Undertaking initiative, the SPIN-CHIP project is a European microelectronics initiative focused on developing ultra-low power, sustainable spintronic chips. By utilizing Magnetic Tunnel Junction (MTJ) technology, the project aims to advance EU technological sovereignty with energy-efficient hardware for AI, IoT, space, and medical applications.

For this project, CardioID will provide technology use cases focusing on cardiac health, taking advantage of spintronics to measure magnetocardiographic signals. CardioID is part of the Portuguese cluster of the project, led by INESC-MN.

The kick-off meeting marked the start of project activities and provided an opportunity to align technical objectives, collaboration strategies, and the roadmap for the coming years.
